The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on September 28, 2026, issued a notification regarding the Implementation of the Face-Based Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) in ESIC Medical Colleges and ESIC Hospitals.
The following has been stated:
• ESIC has approved implementation of the Face-Based Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) in ESIC Medical Colleges and Hospitals. The notification prescribes minimum technical specifications for procurement of devices, including Android 14, 4-core or higher processor, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, binocular 5 MP + infrared camera, biometric/fingerprint sensor, dual SIM, Wi-Fi/TCP-IP, GPS/GPRS, UIDAI-registered device certification, and RoHS compliance. Devices shall also support the applicable UIDAI Aadhaar Face Authentication/FaceRD application and liveness detection requirements.
• ESIC establishments shall comply with the prescribed specifications while procuring devices. Any deviation requires prior approval of the ICT Division with technical justification and comparative specifications. Procurement shall follow applicable procurement procedures, GFR and financial rules, and requisite administrative and financial approvals. The devices shall also remain compatible with applicable UIDAI requirements.
